Twenty years of web development. The year was 1996. The IE3 & Netscape Navigator battle had begun. Image maps, animated marquees & Shockwave animations were all the rage. Tiny videos via RealPlayer. MP3 files were best created via shell script. Frame sets were acceptable. Google didn't exist. How things have changed. My professional web development career began in 2002, after learning Perl & popular Adobe software. I was hooked. As time went on I discovered just how much more is possible via SOLID software design patterns & data-driven best practices. Software & UI/UX development share a common requirement: creativity. Each have technical aspects -- and often -- an inherent beauty. It is this synergy of the creative & technical that keeps me hooked.
